Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School
Vlerick Part-time and Modular MBA
Opleiding: Modular Executive MBA
Learning purpose
The Modular MBA programme enables you to earn an MBA dgree while you continue to work full-time. The programme covers a period of 18 months, starting in January and finishing in July of the next year. Classes are scheduled every third weekend and on 4 residential weeks.
At the start in January, you first go through a series of introductory courses, which are designed to refresh the basic knowledge required to effectively follow the core module. After that, you move onto the regular courses during the weekend modules and seminars on social and interaction skills, leadership skills and management integration during the residential weeks.
The core modules address the full range of management disciplines, divided over the 18-month period. Classes alternate with various exercises and games throughout the programme, and in the first year there is a one-week study trip abroad. At regular intervals, you are assessed through a mix of exams, papers, case discussions and presentations. The programme culminates with the in-company project, in which you tackle a business issue within your own company by integrating and applying what you have learned during the programme. At the end of your journey, you receive a well-deserved MBA degree from Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School.

Entry Requirements
To be eligible for our MBA Programme, either part-time or full-time, applicants should meet three requirements:
1. Hold a university degree (*)
The applicant should hold an academic degree (at least 3 years normal study duration, minimum 180 ECTS credits) from an academic institution that is recognised by the relevant authorities of the institution’s home country.
(*) Applicants who hold a 3 or 4-year professional degree, are also eligible provided they have a good GMAT result (min 550 with percentile scores of 50% for both the verbal and quantitative parts) in addition to the other mentioned criteria.
2. Have at least three years of working experience
The applicant should have an excellent professional history, with at least three years of business-related experience.
3. Pass the admissions process
The applicant should successfully complete the admissions process administered by Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School.
Applicants may apply for admission in one of two equivalent ways:
3 A. an on-campus assessment
The on-campus admissions test is administered on several fixed dates during the year. It consists of 4 parts:
1. Analytical Test
The analytical test assesses your ability to recognise, understand and apply mathematical and statistical reasoning. The test is designed to assess higher level numerical skills involving deduction, interpretation and evaluation. You do not need to prepare for this test.
2. Written Test
The written test assesses your comprehension and writing skills in English. You are requested to write a structured summary of, and comment on, an article that is read aloud on a relevant business concept.
3. Knowledge / Management Potential interview
In this interview the jury will assess your oral English language skils as well as your knowledge of current events and the socio-economic environment (e.g. Financial Times, The Economist, CNN, Business Week).
4. Motivation interview
The motivation interview probes your motivation to attend the programme, your background, your interest in management sciences, and your insight into your own personal strengths and weaknesses. The jury also assesses your social skills: i.e., the way you express yourself during the interview.
3 B. a distance assessment
To apply through the distance procedure, you must: Take the GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test). The GMAT is a standardised test that is generally used by business schools worldwide to assess the qualifications of applicants for advanced business studies. It measures your verbal, mathematical and analytical writing skills. Although we do not observe a strict minimum, admission with a GMAT score below 550 is unlikely (with percentile scores of 50% for both the verbal and quantitative parts). You can register for the test at www.mba.com by selecting your local test centre and the date on which you want to take the test. More details: www.mba.com
Take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)
The TOEFL measures the ability of non-native speakers of ENglish to use and understand English as it is used in university settings. Exemptions are granted to native English speakers and applicants who have completed their entire undergraduate education in English.
We require a TOEFL score of 100 (internetbased), 250 (computer-based), or 600 (paper-based). More details: www.toefl.org As an alternative to the TOEFL, IELTS (minimum band 6), PTE is also accepted. If you require TOEFL ibt 100 then this is the equivalent to PTE Academic 68. More details: www.ielts.org or www.pearsonpte.com

"My decision to enrol in Vlerick's Modular MBA programme was the result of thoroughly evaluationg and seriously considering a variety of optopns, including distance-learning and part-time programmes offered by other universities. In my opinion, the Vlerick programme delivers exactly what it promises: highly practical information delivered by great professors with hands-on industry experience, lively class discussions and challenging group work that enables us to share our knowledge and experience. The programme's schedule - with sessions every third weekend, and the 4 full residential weeks throughout the programme - is another important advantage, as it minimises disruptions to work and personal pursuits."

"Choosing the Modular MBA was the optimal decision for me - not only because of the programme's flexibility (it is conducted outside of working hours), but also because of the level of professionalism and work experience of the participants themselves. Rich interactive discussions were the norm thoughout our MBA programme, and they were enhanced even more by the group's multiculturalism - no less than 10 nationalities. Added to that, our international trip to India was an unforgettable experience, both professionally and from a personal life perspective. Overall, the modular MBA has contributed tremendously to my business knowledge and has taught me how to swim in the turbulent oceans of the business world."
