University of Luxembourg
Faculty of Law, Economics and FinanceMaster of Science, Master of Laws

The University of Luxembourg (www.uni.lu) was created in August 2003. As one of the youngest European universities, the University of Luxembourg has the exciting opportunity to take advantage of the changing environment in higher education. Moreover, many students are attracted by the multicultural and trilingual country in the heart of Europe. The University’s main focus is research. The degrees offered are mainly at Masters and doctoral level.
The University is composed of three faculties: the Faculty of Sciences, Technology and Communication, the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, and the Faculty of Language and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education. The Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance offers, among others, the following Masters:
Master in European Law
The Master in European Law has been developed for you in partnership with leading academics and practitioners. The favourable staff-student ratio allows you to develop close contact with the outstanding faculty. Students will find our graduates working in European institutions, national governments, banking and finance institutions and as members of the judiciary or working in law firms.

Master of Science in Banking and Finance
The MS in Banking and Finance takes place at the Luxembourg School of Finance (www.lsf.lu) which is the Finance Department of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg. The Master of Science provides a specialised training into the various professions of the banking and finance areas: the educational philosophy of the MS is to further a conceptualised expertise linked to this particular sector, contrary to the MBA which trains generalists for global management. The programme is furthermore committed to creating leaders who are creative thinkers and team players. It is not a static set of directives, but a dynamic framework of analytical skills and intellectual tools. It aims at offering students a cross-functional curriculum which provides an integrated approach to solving banking and financial problems: participants will gain a better understanding of the interactive nature of making business decisions.
Students of the M.Sc. programme follow a five-day tailor-made programme at the Stern School of Business of the New York University.
The Master of Science in Banking and Finance is designed for highly dedicated people willing to pursue a challenging career in the financial sector. The programme enables also some students to prepare for a Ph.D.

Master in Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The University and the Chamber of Commerce of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg have initiated a partnership whose first outcome is this new programme on Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
The programme is a one-year Master’s degree offered to students with backgrounds in the traditional business disciplines, in other social sciences and in scientific disciplines (biology, physics, engineering for instance). This diversity, rather than a shortcoming, is a strength for a programme aimed at encouraging curiosity and developing an entrepreneurial spirit. The course concept interweaves theory and practice. Experienced professors from different countries will present and discuss the managerial implications of the latest evidence from academic research and case studies. Experienced practitioners from entrepreneurial businesses will bring their know-how and practical views, and discuss their problem-solving heuristics. Each approach will have its assumptions and contentions challenged and enriched by those of the other one, a dialogue which we believe to be essential for understanding entrepreneurship.
