Master Program: Master in Fine Food & Beverage

Learning purpose

The mission of the Master in Fine Food & Beverage is to form and train specialized managers, giving them the opportunity to grow with specific and unique knowledge and to strengthen their sensibility and culture in the fine food and beverage industries.

The main objectives of the program are:
- To deliver an education on an entrepreneurial mind-set approach
- To raise a managerial sensibility
- To develop a strong culture of the industry
- To build a strong personal competitive advantage
- To transfer knowledge and experience from the world’s top quality Professors in the industry

 

Programme

The program blends culture- and methodology- oriented courses together with lessons focused on specific knowledge and skill related to fine food and beverage. Lessons from top academicians, experts and professionals are fundamental and the contact with Italian culture and tradition is privileged.
The program of the Master in Fine Food & Beverage is composed of common modules and tailored modules.

 

Pre-courses (November - December 2008)

These courses are recommended for those who do not have a strong cultural background in economics and management. This kind of subjects give the partakers the possibility to have a common background.

The main themes are:
- Introduction to Business

- Accounting

- Economics

- Quantitative Methods

 

Basics (January – February 2009)

The first month is dedicated to build a good overall view on the program as a whole and to focus on basic knowledge and managerial skills.

The main subjects of this section are:
- Accounting

- Business Administration

- Information Technology

- Quantitative Methods

 

General Management (February – June 2009)

This portion of the Master in Fine Food and Beverage will make you gain a strong background for a richer mental attitude and experience. This set of courses will allow you to acquire methodological tools and key concepts.

Main subjects:
- Banking

- Business Law and Regulations

- Business Strategy

- Corporate Finance

- Corporate Strategy

- Management Control System

- Marketing

- Organization Design and Human Resource Management

- Technology and Innovation

- Segmentation

- Supply Chain Management

 

Field Projects (June – September 2009)

Companies grant you the chance to cooperate with them and to deal with real life complex problems. The field projects’ duration ranges from 8 to 12 weeks and are organized to give you a choice between two options:


- Group Projects: Top quality companies offer to groups of 3 - 5 students a real consultancy project
- Individual Projects: Top quality companies will give single students the chance to work on individual projects for at least 8 weeks, starting June 2009

 

There is also the possibility for the student to find an internship for himself / herself: it will have to be approved and certified by the Master’s Directors.

 

Inter-functional Courses (September – October 2009)

These courses will let you combine together the experiences and point of views with the studied theories. This will exploit your ability to act and decide as a manager.

The main topics are:
- Brand Management and Communication

- Business Game

- Business Planning

- Family Businesses

- Growth Strategies

- Management in Luxury Firms

 

Concentrations (October – December 2009)

In this final part of the program, the student will be able to personalize their growth path by choosing a specific Concentration, according to the individual’s tastes and expectations


- Ho.Re.Ca.: dedicated to the Ho.Re.Ca. industries
- Product Management: to strengthen the knowledge of different aspects related to the product

 

Entry Requirements

After a deep examination of the request, the candidates are selected on the basis of
- Skills
- Talents
- Formal pre-requisites.

Also personal interests and characteristics are fundamental: involvement, enthusiasm, open-mindedness, motivation and concentration play a big role in selecting a candidate.

After the application has been approved, you will be contacted for an interview which will be held at SDA Bocconi in Milan or, in special cases, remotely (by telephone or webcam).
