Opleiding: MSc Engineering Project Management

Learning purpose

Middlesex University is the only institution in London to offer a postgraduate degree in engineering project management. The MSc Engineering Project Management meets a specific skills gap in industry for engineers with project management skills who can lead on engineering projects in any sector. The Engineering Project Mangement masters will give you a fundamental understanding of advances in engineering and expand your knowledge of management.

 

Programme

A project manager not only helps to reduce costs, but gives a project flexibility, and can assist with access to new technologies and developments. The MSc Engineering Project Management is for graduates with some industrial understanding that wish to move into project management within the engineering industry.The course provides the latest experiences of current best practice with regard to human, financial and Total Quality Management (TQM) of an engineering enterprise.

 

You will be assessed through a combination of coursework, presentations, a project and unseen examinations.

 

Engineering Innovation (30 Credits) - Compulsory

To understand the process of innovation in an engineering context and be able to appreciate the way it impacts the management of an engineering enterprise.

Engineering Project Management (30 Credits) - Compulsory

To be able to apply project management techniques to achieve quality engineering solutions using human and financial resources in a given time frame

Engineering Simulation (30 Credits) - Compulsory

This module will enable students to understand the scientific methods underlying the modelling of real systems. It will further expand their understanding of a range of sophisticated mathematical techniques and simulation methods using the examples facilitated by engineering systems. Case studies will be used to illustrate how models can be validated against real measurements. Assessment procedures are designed to enable students to deliver academically significant modelling performances.

Human and Financial Management in Engineering (30 Credits) - Compulsory

To be able to apply management techniques as tools to achieve engineering solutions using human and financial resources

Logistics and Supply Chains (30 Credits) - Compulsory

To understand the operation of supply chains in an engineering enterprise and to be able to control the logistical operation

 

Entry Requirements

Minimum of 2.1 honours degree or an equivalent in any numerate discipline. We also consider candidates with other relevant qualifications who can demonstrate relevant work experience in an appropriate field. Candidates without formal qualifications need to demonstrate relevant work experience and the ability to study at postgraduate level. Candidates will need a high level of competence in the use of English, equivalent to at least 6.5 in the IELTS test or TOEFL 575 paper based , 237 computer based.

English language requirements

You must have competence in English language and we normally require Grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification. The most common English Language requirements for international students are IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL (paper based) 575 or TOEFL (internet based) 90 with specified minimum scores for each component.

Our engineering graduates have taken senior positions in industry and it is expected that as a graduate of the MSc Engineering Project Management degree you will be in a strong position to enter a project management career in a variety of engineering sectors. Your role could also lead to a career in a professional project management company working within the health, energy, maufacturing and environmental sectors.
