Learning purpose
The Ayurvedic Medicine Masters is a unique course, delivered jointly by Middlesex University in London and the College of Ayurveda. This is the first postgraduate Ayurveda course in the UK and includes clinical placements in India and Sri Lanka.
The Ayurvedic Medicine Masters provides students who already posses an approved degree-level qualification in Ayurveda with the advanced knowledge and skills to enable them to practise professionally and independently as practitioners of Ayurvedic Medicine.
The Ayurvedic modules are delivered by the College of Ayurveda and the research and dissertation modules by Middlesex University in London. You will be able to consolidate your knowledge and skills in Ayurvedic Medicine as well as further your interest in the field of Ayurveda through a contribution to research. An integral part of the course is a 12 week clinical placement in India and-or Sri Lanka.
Your study will include
Advanced Internal Medicine; Obstetrics; Gynaecology and Paediatrics; Surgical Techniques in Ayurveda; Methods of Critical Enquiry in Healthcare Sciences and a Dissertation (15,000 words).
Based at our Archway Campus in London, you will benefit from our specialist Archway Health Library and dedicated facilities for laboratory work and clinical skills, including our Medicinal Herb Garden.
Programme
The Ayurvedic modules will be delivered by staff from the College of Ayurveda, whilst the research and dissertation modules by Middlesex University. MSc students will be able to consolidate their knowledge and skills in Ayurvedic medicine as well as specialise in the field of Ayurveda through original research. You will be required to complete a 15,000-word dissertation. The Postgraduate Diploma is designed to give you advanced clinical skills, as well as to explore such specialities of Ayurveda as Kaumarabritya, Stri-roga, Shalya-Shalakya, clinical research and advanced Kayachikitsa, including an in-depth knowledge of, and practical skills in, Pancakarma therapy. You will acquire detailed assessment, diagnostic and therapeutic skills in Ayurvedic medicine during your 750 hours clinical internship in India and-or Sri Lanka.
The clinical internship in India and-or Sri Lanka will normally be taken over 16 weeks in semester one but students unable to do this can undertake two placements of eight weeks each.
Includes assessed coursework, unseen examinations, oral and clinical examinations.
Entry Requirements
We welcome applications from graduates with a good honours degree, or equivalent qualification, in an appropriate subject. We also consider candidates with other relevant qualifications and individuals with a minimum of three years' work experience. Those without formal qualifications need to demonstrate relevant work experience and the ability to study at postgraduate level.
English language requirements
You must have competence in English language and we normally require Grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification. The most common English Language requirements for international students are IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL (paper based) 575 or TOEFL (internet based) 90 with specified minimum scores for each component.
