Opleiding: Graduate Diploma in Law
Learning purpose
The intensive Graduate Diploma in Law course provides an excellent opportunity for non-law graduates to complete the academic stage of legal professional training. It is approved by the Law Society and the Bar Council through the Joint Academic Stage Board. Successful completion carries the award of Graduate Diploma in Law and leads to the professional stage of legal training via the Legal Practice Course or the Bar Vocational Course.
We have been teaching the part-time Graduate Diploma in Law by distance learning for more than 20 years: it is taught online, with web support, and can be completed in 2 years.
Programme
Comprehensive learning materials, authored by Middlesex staff and available both in hard-copy and on-line, are complemented by a state-of-the-art suite of electronic legal research tools and modern Learning Resource Centre. Students tackle the seven foundations of legal knowledge and choose either a supervised research project or a module on the Principles of a Fair Trial. There are multiple and continuous opportunities for students to submit and receive prompt individual feedback, example answers and general advice, on formative written execises and practice examinations. In weekly tutorial sessions, full-time students work through legal problem questions with the emphasis on maximum interaction. Distance learners have regular opportunities to participate in non-simultaneous on-line notice board tutorials.
Your individual progress is closely monitored by the programme team and extra support is available to those returning to academic life after an absence or those for whom English is a second language.
Before Induction, students receive preliminary Directed Study materials on the English Legal System.
