Master Program: Understanding Environment and Establishing Policy

Learning purpose

European Environment and Strategy (Brussels Residency)

Institutions of the European Union and effects on the internal market are studied in this course, with special emphasis being placed on lobbying. A field trip to Brussels enables participants to meet prominent players in Europe and examine issues such as market de-regulation.

Financial Policy

The major decision-making areas of financial management are treated in this course: investment objectives and policy, advantages and disadvantages of various forms of financing, portfolio strategies and risk-return take-offs. The role of financial management in a firm's overall strategy is underscored here.

Management Simulation

This computer-run simulation places competitive teams in the position of general managers and trains participants to sharpen analytical skills as they integrate such functional aspects of management as marketing, human resources, and financial management into coherent policy decisions.

The Global Corporation

The complexities of today's multinational corporations are examined here. Issues studied include cultural awareness, global organization strategies, cross-border economies of scale and local market responsiveness, the staffing of international organizations and international reporting and control systems.

Marketing Policy

Understanding market behavior and developing effective means to deliver the right products to chosen markets is the subject of this course. The various marketing functions are examined: market monitoring and analysis, promotion, segmentation techniques, pricing and distribution decisions.

Management Negotiaton

This course enables participants to improve the interpersonal skills in dealing with projects, contracts, conflicts and crises. Understanding the principles of negotiation strategy and preparation, creating joint gains and claiming value, and the improved handling of tension are the main themes treated here.
