Opleiding: Sustainable Tourism Management
Learning purpose
Do you want to learn how tourism can contribute to the economic, environmental and social development of your country and to understand your role and the role of your organization in this process? By exchanging views with experts in the field of sustainable tourism development, our STM program provides you with the main concepts and skills you need to develop sustainable tourism.
We explore the roles of local communities and nature conservation in tourism and poverty alleviation. We demonstrate the importance of entrepreneurship, management and marketing tools in promoting sustainable tourism initiatives, whilst developing your ability to communicate and negotiate with the main stakeholders in the sector.
This program has been developed and implemented by Maastricht School of Management in close cooperation with the Chair Group Socio-spatial Analysis of Wageningen University.
Target audience
The program is designed for:
- - National and local policy makers
- - Non-governmental officials in the field of socio-economic development with a focus on tourism development
- - Tourism managers
- - Trainers in the field of tourism or related fields of study wishing to deepen their understanding of sustainable tourism
Entry Requirements
Candidates applying for an MSM Executive Program should meet the following criteria:
- - Hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- - Have at least 6 years of professional experience, at least 3 of which have been in a position relevant to the participant's profile for the
- specific executive program
- - As all our Executive courses are taught in English, it is very important that the candidates have an adequate level of spoken and written English
- - Applicants whose native language is not English or whose previous education has been in a language other than English, must submit evidence
- of proficiency in the English language by achieving the following scores:
IELTS at least 6.5
or
TOEFL paper based: at least 570
TOEFL computer based test: at least 230
TOEFL internet based: at least 88.
