Learning purpose

In this programme, you will get an understanding of the key issues involved in modern production and logistics systems. You will be provided with the analytical and computing tools, including information on their use and scope that will enable you to manage the development of those systems successfully and competitively.

Programme

Education

This programme consists of a two-year curriculum comprising a total of 120 credits. You will learn to select, initiate, plan and schedule projects, using techniques like CPM and PERT. You will acquire skills in modern production and logistics systems and be able to analyze, evaluate and optimize solutions. A master's degree in Production and Logistics Management will also provide you with an advanced basis in Applied Operations Research and Logistics, so that you will be able to build models in response to specific production and logistics problems and obtain optimal solutions by using the LINDO/LINGO optimization software package. You will write a master thesis, which can be done within one of the research areas of the department or at one of the companies with which the department has very active cooperation, such as Volvo or ABB, resulting in practical industrial applications.

 

Research

Product and Process Development is part of the research profile Innovation and Product Realization (IPR) at the School of Innovation, Design and Engineering. IPR is a multidisciplinary research unit, with a unique combination of research in art and design, engineering, and innovation/entrepreneurship. The research is focused on Design Science and enhanced by the Centre for Product Realization, which hosts a variety of multidisciplinary projects in cooperation with industry and society. Within Product and Process Development, we have a number of research groups developing processes for competitive product realization. The educational programmes within Product and Process Development cover both the bachelor and master levels and include projects together with industry and society.

 

Entry Requirements

Language requirements: Foreign students are required to submit a TOEFL test result, minimum score 575 with a TWE score of at least 4.5 (PBT) or 90 with a TWE score of at least 20 (iBT) or an IELTS test result with an overall band score of minimum 6.5 and no band score below 5.5 or equivalent.

Future and career

Having run the programme for a number of years, we have found that our graduates in Production and Logistics Management are in high demand by production companies and logistics firms. As a graduate, you can expect to secure employment as a production engineer/manager, logistics specialist/manager, or in other, related fields.
