Opleiding: MBA
Learning purpose
The INSEAD MBA curriculum is designed to quickly and thoroughly prepare you for a career in international business. This aim is reflected in the compressed timeframe, reliance on group work and clear focus on international markets and settings.
The first few study periods are based on a structured series of 14 core courses. These courses cover all of the key management disciplines, as well as focusing on the environment in which business takes place. Subjects such as 'Macroeconomics in the Global Economy' and 'International Political Analysis' will enable you to understand the drivers of change that will affect your future career.
The second half of the programme can be customised. Choosing 11 electives from a portfolio of more than 70, you will create a unique mix of topics that will support your individual educational and professional goals. You can pursue a generalist path towards management or concentrate on a specific area, such as finance or entrepreneurship.
During your core curriculum, you will work in study groups of five to six, where no more than two people of the same nationality will be represented. When you begin your elective courses, your groups will no longer be predetermined, but INSEAD's focus on group work and peer-to-peer learning will continue. Drawing from INSEAD's unparalleled diversity, you will develop the communication and leadership skills necessary to apply your world-class business education anywhere in the world.

The INSEAD MBA Programme is made up of two classes each year.
The Class of July begins in late August and graduates in early July the following year. The Class of December begins in early January and graduates in late December. Academics are identical for both classes. The January class includes an eight-week summer break, which students may spend doing an internship or project work.
Both classes benefit from comparable recruitment opportunities. However, there are important elements to consider. Major investment banks most often recruit for their summer associate programme, which they view as an entry point for full-time positions. In addition, US recruiters hire more actively from the January class.
Entry Requirements
The INSEAD MBA is intensive, rigorous and challenging. You must have a sound academic foundation: a bachelor's degree or equivalent from a recognised college or university (although in exceptional circumstances, we may waive this requirement for otherwise outstanding candidates with substantial professional experience). While many of our applicants have advanced degrees, this is not compulsory. In looking at your academic background, we consider the competitiveness of the academic institution you attended and your academic performance.
All applicants must take the GMAT or the GRE, both of which provide a uniform and standardised way of evaluating candidates and it is in your interest to prepare thoroughly. While we do not have a minimum score required for admission, we advise candidates to aim for a score at or above the 70-75th percentile for both the quantitative and verbal sections of the GMAT and a percentile of 75-80th or above for the quantitative and verbal sections of the GRE. Please keep in mind, however, that standardised tests are just one of several admission criteria. A high score does not guarantee admission, and a below average score does not eliminate a candidate.
In such cases where an applicant has taken both the GRE and the GMAT, he or she must report both scores as part of the application.
Professional perspective and employment market
Despite challenging market conditions in 2009, more than 86% of MBA graduates found employment within three months of leaving INSEAD, a 1% increase from 2008. Building on the school's international brand, they went to work in over 370 companies and in 60 countries, our highest number ever. Indeed, our international reach is wider than ever before. In 2009, 10% of graduates accepted jobs in the Near / Middle East region and Africa region and, thanks to our strong presence in Asia, 22% of our MBAs took up opportunities in Asia Pacific.
In 2009, 44% of graduates went into corporate sectors - up from 40% in 2008. Several sectors, such as Consumer and Luxury Goods, Healthcare and High Tech/Telecommunications grew particularly strong. Also, for the first time, 4% of INSEAD MBA graduates took social impact positions immediately upon graduation. Employment in the consulting and finance sector remained stable with 39% and 17% of MBAs joining these sectors respectively.
Our MBA graduates have continued to benefit from the innovative and focused approach adopted by the Career Services team which was recently strengthened to meet the fresh challenges of the economic downturn. Student treks, industry networking events, panel discussions, and other events organized by Career Services on a regular basis provide an excellent opportunity for companies and participants to meet face-to-face. The strong support provided by INSEAD alumni who occupy senior managerial positions across the globe has also been invaluable in helping to meet the career objectives of the MBAs. In addition, social media and personal networks have become key elements of the job search.
