
Opleiding: Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Legal Practice
Learning purpose
The Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Legal Practice will prepare you for a career in the international practice of law. The program, specialized in Global Business law and European law, combines general coursework in the legal area with an MBA module, composed of at least six MBA courses. The program is structured in three trimesters, plus a preparatory pre-program and an optional exchange semester.
International law firms and company legal departments increasingly demand lawyers with a global perspective. We have designed our LL.M. program and its unique clinical methodology to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to move to the next level in your professional development.
Target audience
Aimed to Lawyers, recently graduated or with a few years of professional experience, who have an international perspective.
More than 70% of our students are foreign lawyers.

LAUNCH & Orientation Week: The academic year starts in October with the innovative two week Launch and Accelerate Programs. These programs are designed to develop both your soft skills and professional management skills which will serve you well for the rest of the Master and your future career.

The first period begins with fundamental courses such as The Law of the European Union (taught by the world famous Total Law Team), Intro to Common Law, International Arbitration, Corporate Governance, and Business Transactions in Civil Law Jurisdictions. You will also begin the MBA module which gives you the chance to combine a legal education with business classes in economics, accounting, and human resources.

The second period continues with The Law of the European Union as well as courses in Competition, Corporate Finance, International Contracts, Mergers & Acquisitions, Intellectual Property and the innovative Lawyers, Law Firms & The Global Economy. Students will also participate in the one week experiential educational program called “Professional Experience Week”. The MBA module rounds out the period with courses in strategic management, financial management, and negotiation.

The third period allows students to shape their studies a bit more. Students will take five core courses (Securities, International Law, Banking Law, Introduction to Chinese Law, and Project Management) as well as either the two Core Elective courses from the MASTER OF LAWS (LL.M.) IN INTERNATIONAL LEGAL PRACTICE (International Taxation and Lawyers, Social Responsibility, & Pro Bono) or select two courses from the Core Electives of either the Master en Asesoría Juridica de Empresas (LL.M.) or the Master en Asesoría Fiscal de Empresas (LL.M.). Students will then participate in Global Forum and finish the period by choosing six elective courses that best fit their academic interests or future career plans. Students may also complete an Independent Study under faculty supervision in an area of law that most interests them.
Exchange
After completing the three trimesters in Madrid, students may choose to extend their program for an additional 4 to 5 month period in order to take part in one of our exchange programs with top law schools in North America, South America and Asia.
Our partner schools include Northwestern University School of Law (Chicago, USA), William & Mary Law School (Virginia, USA), University of California Hastings College of the Law (San Francisco, USA) National University of Singapore Faculty of Law, Fundação Getulio Vargas Law School (São Paulo, Brazil), and Tilburg Law School (The Netherlands).

To initiate your admissions process for the Master of Laws in International Legal Practice, you will need to have completed the following:
- A law degree at an accredited college/university or equivalent (candidates may begin their admission process during their last year of studies)
- English language proficiency certificate is required for all non-native English-speaking applicants.
