Opleiding: Master in International Relations

Learning purpose

The Master in International Relations at IE School of Arts and Humanities is designed to be a truly transformational experience and to prepare you successfully for an international career. The objective is to train internationally-oriented professionals with a good knowledge of the different elements that make up our complex and multipolar world.

 

Students will participate in international projects that require the cooperation of players in both public and private sectors, including non-governmental and civil society organizations.

 

The program focuses on the European Union as the most successful of all international organizations. In addition different regions are explored throughout the year. Furthermore, students will be taught by selected professors from IE Business School, thus obtaining a thorough and diverse vision of International Relations.

 

Additionally, IE School of Arts and Humanities is Affiliate Member of the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) which serves as an active platform for the exchange of valuable expertise in the international affairs arena. The School is also a member of the Consortium of Humanities Centers and Institutes, an association dedicated to the fostering of knowledge related to the humanities and interpretive social sciences.

 

Programme

The Master in International Relations follows the pattern of the intensive, one-year programs that IE has been successfully running for many years. The program is taught in three periods: October to December, January to March and April to July.

 

The program consists of twenty one core courses divided into four academic areas: Skills, competencies and languages; European Institutions and Security Studies; Social Sciences and Humanities; and Economics and Business.

 

During the electives period in June, students select topics of special interest from a list of courses offered in both the Master in International Relations and the Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Legal Practice. All students will also be required to write a master's thesis.

The program's academic curriculum will be further enriched by a series of seminars during which international experts from politics, business and civil society will share their privileged insights and experiences with program participants.

At IE School of Arts and Humanities, we seek candidates who are dynamic, motivated and creative and who not only demonstrate academic and professional excellence, but who also offer the type of interpersonal skills that will foster integration and drive the maximum learning experience throughout the program.

 

To initiate your admissions process for the Master in International Relations, you will need to have completed the following:

 

• A first degree at an accredited college/university or equivalent (candidates may begin their admission process during their last year of studies)
• English language proficiency certificate is required for all non-native English-speaking applicants.
