Opleiding: Vision Management Program
Learning purpose
In uncertain times, it is necessary to reconcile varying points of view in order to achieve a clear perspective. The VMP aims to provide the tools needed to arrive at a vision that is tailored to a given environment, and to ensure successful strategic decision-making.
FOCUS
The Vision Management Program is aimed principally at company directors who are responsible for, and authorised to make, strategic decisions at their respective organisations. The VMP has, in the past, been called upon by chairmen, vice-chairmen, managing directors, director generals and other senior executives who were hoping to arrive at a better understanding of their business environment, to look at things differently, and to make use of different dynamics in order to visualise solutions. The design of the curriculum is such as to bring about improved levels of reflection and a greater understanding of the changes generated in the current economic and business climate. The proven experience of the Program’s first-class staff professionals offers an unrivalled array of keys for understanding the evolving business environment, and tools which will allow for the formation of a vision that is better tailored to the real possibilities of generating opportunities in an unfavourable environment. Participants will be given the chance to compare and contrast varying information, techniques, schools of thought and practical management solutions for these uncertain times.
Target audience
The VMP is a program aimed at high-level company directors (Chairmen, CEOs, Director Generals, Managing Directors, Country Managers, Business Unit Directors, Strategic Development Directors, etc) who are trying to form a clear vision of the changing environment, to understand the challenges facing the strategic management of different areas, to achieve better working practices, and to participate in strategic disruption and reflection sessions with the leaders of other organisations.
Programme
The VMP will take from Wednesday 23 to Friday 25 May, 2012 (9:00 - 6:00pm.). The program will be held at IE Business School Education Building located at our main campus in Madrid, Spain.
Module 1.
Environments with the greatest influence on management
The economic and business environment has shifted dramatically in the past year, and reappraisals need to be made to allow us to identify the changes and find our way through these uncertain times. It is thus that the program provides the necessary approaches to allow participants to
distinguish between what is important and what is secondary, what is urgent and what is permanent. This part of the program will be divided into four major subject areas:
• The strategic environment: conditions for success.
Faced with a climate of recession, the correct choice and implementation of managing strategy becomes even more pressing.
• The Macroeconomic environment: the forest of data.
If there is one thing that has changed in the business world it is precisely the unexpected macroeconomic situation, which has meant that business management is even more directly conditioned by major political decisions.
• The financial environment: credit means confidence.
The changes brought about by the crisis in the Spanish and international financial landscapes are conditioning the real financing possibilities of the majority of companies.
• The technological environment: in constant flux
Technology’s ability to boost and revive markets, social relations and information, is creating a new reality in which it is difficult to find one’s bearings.
Module 2.
Techniques for improvement
A reappraisal of the main motors of improvement and change, and the techniques, methods and ideas put forward to make it possible to maintain a firm grip on the strategic management of the most important resources in underperforming environments.
• Strategic leadership: finding the way.
More than ever, an understanding of the importance of business leadership, and its most important aspects, has become paramount.
• Strategic talent management: visiting cards with photos Locating, retaining and motivating talented employees is a business milestone, even more so when it is difficult to select the best.
• Management by values: a return to basics.
A well laid-out system of values is a strategic catalyst of the highest order, given that it facilitates the capillarization of policies, and frameworks for organizational decision-making.
• Innovative thinking: the roots of creativity.
Innovation in business is one of the main factors which guarantee an organisation’s survival.
• Strategic management of change: surviving entropy.
Markets inevitably change. The dynamic process of understanding (and accepting) changes in the environment is the first step to adapting on an organization-wide level.
• Corporate entrepreneurship: undertaking the journey towards success An organisation brings together all types of people, some of which are capable of taking on the role of corporate entrepreneur.
Module 3.
Management dynamics
Introspection, the consideration of one’s own situation, combined with teamwork, constitute a powerful tool to enable us to plot a course through complex environments. Guided discussion, supported by diagnostic analyses of specific leadership variables, provides an array of solutions that participants may employ.
Module 4.
Practical discussion
Understanding the most important attributes that make up a successful endeavor is an effective way of taking on management models which may be applicable in each individual case. Through guest panels with notable professionals from a range of fields and sectors, a clearer image of the best working practices in the strategic management of change and talent will be sought. The format, halfway between the formality of the classroom and the laid-back atmosphere of a working lunch, ensures familiarity with the speakers.
