Master Program: China: An Inside View
Learning purpose
The rise of China has been regarded as a transformation that may only be compared with the industrial revolution in the UK during the 18th and 19th centuries or in the U.S. during the 19th and 20th centuries. Boasting 1.3 billion potential customers and an annually quadrupling per-capita income, China is the fastest growing market on the planet. With hundreds of millions of skilled workers, China is the world's manufacturing centre and an important global player. China's strong economic growth along with increasing foreign investment over the past two decades indicate that many companies have already succeeded in the country, taking advantage of both market and cost-saving opportunities. International firms typically view an involvement in China as crucial to their global business success. Nonetheless, doing business in China can be difficult. Experienced multinationals have long been aware of the challenges, summed up by the Chinese proverb that states “In China everything is possible, but nothing is easy.". CEOs and executives looking to enter the Chinese market need to understand how to seize the opportunities and be aware of the challenges while adapting to a business environment that is very different from their own. China: An Inside View is a four-day executive program that will provide participants with a first-hand view of China’s unique business context. The academic sessions are led by faculty members from both IE Business School and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB), combining in-depth lectures on China-specific business topics taught by prominent experts with interactive company visits and cultural events.
Target audience
This international executive program designed for executives who are interested in initiating business in China or who are seeking to improve their current business relationships in the country. Participants will receive an overview of the political, legal, social, and above all, business context in China. Participants include CEOs, managing directors, general managers, strategic directors, chief representatives, country heads, functional directors, and international business development managers.
