Opleiding: Brazil: An Inside View
Learning purpose
Brazil is the 6th largest economy in the world by nominal GDP, according to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. Per capita GDP is following the country’s growth trend and is currently US$ 10,200, positioning Brazil as the 8th consumer market in the world and as the second fast-growing BRIC country. The extraordinary growth rates that the country has been experiencing during the last decade, positioned Brazil as one of the world’s fastest growing economies, predicted to become one of the five largest in the world in the decades to come. Economic reforms and a long-lasting monetary stability have given the country new international recognition and a refreshed image in the global economic, financial and industrial arena. Brazil holds as much as 40% of fresh water reserves of the globe and is also home to a diversity of wildlife, natural environments, and extensive natural resources in a variety of protected habitats. Thanks to virtually unlimited natural resources, the country has large and well developed agricultural, mining, manufacturing (spanning from consumer goods to aircrafts), and service sectors, all supplied by a large and skilled labor force. Exports include automobiles, aircrafts, electrical equipment, petrochemicals, ethanol, iron ore, steel, textiles, footwear, coffee, orange juice, soybeans and corned beef. The country has been expanding its presence in international financial and commodity markets. The M&A market has been particularly active in the last decade, setting a new record for M&As in terms of value with US$ 115 billion in 2010..
