Opleiding: Alternatives in Capital Markets

Learning purpose

Midmarket companies have historically perceived the international financial markets as remote and closed to them. In recent years, as a result of globalization, companies have had to compete head to head with those who have access to these markets. This access creates a competitive advantage, due to the lower financial costs and/or more flexible conditions, which in many cases mean significant barriers for companies without such access. 

 

The program will, in a practical way, seek to explain what the standards, processes and requirements to access the International Capital Markets are and that those of their competition can be achieved.

 

By demonstrating the essential internal changes needed, participants will be shown how to:

 

  • Plan their business and financial structure
  • Potentially gain access to new sources of capital
  • Choose between various financial products developed for the midmarket

 

This is an intensive program with a practical character, seeking participation and practice through guided presentations and complemented by business cases. The first half of the course will provide the bases and the drivers of the International Capital Markets. It will describe the market players, their needs and requirements and problems to avoid.

The program will then shift in the second half into a practical workshop, helping participants to understand how the markets work through demonstrations and lectures by market practitioners - showing how they perform and the products they can and do provide.

 

Target audience

Alternatives in Capital Markets is designed for CEOs, CFOs, directors and those responsible for finance, owners and directors of family businesses and senior management. Directors and heads of corporate departments responsible for planning and control, as well as professionals whose tasks relate to planning, management and control in the implementation and execution of financial strategy will also profit immensely from this program.

 

Target companies will be those with:

  • Turnover of between € 100 m and € 1bn
  • Strong market share and growth orientation
  • A number of years of positive results
  • Effective governance or process improvement in place

 

Programme

The program is focused on midmarket companies and is designed to:

  • Help managers better understand the International Capital Markets.
  • Illustrate different models, valuation methods, barriers and benchmarks that are used by these markets
  • Increase their knowledge of how markets work, including the types of capital that may be available
  • Help participants review the structures and processes of their own companies in order to increase the diversity of financial products available to them.
