Learning purpose
The Master in Finance and Accounting programme provides you with an understanding of how financial decisions can affect a firm’s value. A financial approach towards managerial decision-making, taking into account behavioural aspects, describing and analysing problems of choice and providing executives with the background and tools for financial analysis, is indispensable.
The role of finance and accounting professionals is changing rapidly. The focus is on issues related to the role of financial information in facilitating the operations of capital markets and in helping managers plan and control the way their
instructions operate. However, today’s accountants are performing less auditing work due to liability exposures and lower profitability. Their tax preparation responsibilities have also decreased due to growing competition from specialised tax firms. More and more, now is an opportune time for accounting professionals interested in changing industries. These professionals are advising senior management on financial matters and taking a more active role in analyzing corporate operations.
This Master programme is built on three pillars: the educational programme, the research programme and the personal development programme. The educational programme provides a profound knowledge of the necessary theories and frameworks and apply theory to practice. The research programme prepares the student for academic research. In the personal development programme students reflect on themselves and the programme, in order to gain an understanding of their personal growth in the study programme.
The curriculum of the Master programme consists of core modules, specialisation modules and elective modules. This design was adopted to create the combination of knowledge, skills and competencies that all professionals in the business field must have.
