Program Structure
The concurrently taught Executive Masters Programs are designed for working professionals. Intermittent periods of lectures are scheduled to allow participants to continue with demanding careers while acquiring new skills. The programs start every one and a half years, either in March or September, and extend over a period of 18-20 months. The programs are divided into ten intensive modules of 14 days each alternating with monthly breaks. Each participant takes the same sequence of courses throughout the program and completes it with a master's thesis.
Teaching Structure
Our programs are more than typical MBA Programs. The primary goal is to enable young professionals to take a holistic approach when managing highly interdependent processes. Leadership for engineers in today's fast changing and complex environment does imply technological and organizational responsibilities as well as requires economical accountability and Human Resource Management know-how. Therefore all programs base on five Management Modules where the participants are provided with general knowledge in Finance, Accounting, Marketing, Multiproject Management, and International Law so they can consider commercial consequences of business decisions.
The engineering emphasis of each Masters Program is laid on five additional Modules adapted to each specialization. The lectures in the Masters-specific field provide insight into the newest research topics. They convey current and state of the art methodology necessary to master the scope of innovative technologies. These engineering lectures also teach the theoretical background necessary to model and analyze key decision problems in manufacturing sites.
Workshops and case studies allow ample opportunity to explore the direct applications of the modules simulating the real business environment. The programs conclude with an independent masters thesis which allows the participants to work on a research project reflecting their own company's needs and its specific business environment. The final title bestowed after having successfully completed the programs is the M.Sc. of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT).
