Master Program: Master Production and Operations Management

Learning purpose

The program Production and Operations Management is targeting future factory managers. Beside the above mentioned management skills the program focuses on the application of the state of the art in production technology and production engineering combined with the newest approaches of supply chain management. In order to be prepared to changing markets and relied production and logistic processes the program presents necessary specific as well as methodical knowledge and praxis oriented tools to improve production and service processes.

 

This program prepares engineers to analyze, understand and manage the operations function of a manufacturing or service organization especially in a global context. The primarily technical subjects in operations research will provide the background in order to select appropriate models and rationally assess the decision-making process. This is built on the latest knowledge in production technology and systems industrial and virtual engineering as well as logistics and supply chain management. The program conveys: Analytical thinking | Problem solving and communication skills as key methods for success | Planning and controlling of operations systems | Methods of Project Management as well as Human Resource Management.

 

Target audience

  • Young professionals (age 27 - 40) identified as high potentials in the company who have a forseen career path as an engineering specialist with growing responsibilities or as a „generalist“ in the fields of development, production, logistics, services, product management or related fields or future engineering executives in production and/ or logistics or plant engineering.

    Planning & Operative Purchasing Manager; Performance Manager; Commercial Manager Controlling; Manager Marketing & Sales; Project Director; Logistics Project Leader; Project Engineer; Regional Production Manager; Global Industrial Engineer; Operations Audit Manager; etc.

 

Programme

Production and Operations Management conveys fundamental concepts for analysis, design realization of innovative services and also for improving the performance of production process in industry.

 

It is mainly geared towards mechanical engineers with professional experience in production. Applicants should intend to assume executive positions in manufacturing or service organizations especially in a global context.


On the other hand the technical content in Production and Operations Management includes production and service in networked systems with current technologies. Understanding interactions, dependencies and quantitative coherences is the main qualification the students are meant to obtain.

Entry Requirements

  • First degree: Bachelor, Diplom (Uni/FH/BA), M.Sc., ...
  • Min. 3 years of relevant work experience with according references

  • TOEFL score with a minimum of 570 points pb, 250 points cb and 88 points

  • Optional: GMAT, GRE or HECTOR School Assessment

  • Recommended background studies: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Business Administration or related topics
