Master Program: Master of Finance (MSc.)
Learning purpose
You are a young professional in one of these areas and aim at professionalising your competence and skills? Then the Master of Finance (M.Sc.) at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management is a further milestone in your career. This programme is accredited by FIBAA. In three semesters of full- or part-time study you will acquire all relevant knowledge in the field of investment banking. You can study this programme in either a bi-lingual (German-English) or an 100%-English track.
In the “Master of Finance” study programme, you will take ten mandatory and six specialised courses. In addition, there will be some short elective courses while you write your Masters thesis during your third semester. In total, you must accumulate 90 ECTS points during your study programme.
Through the innovative three-day model of the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, you can study while continuing to hold a job: Monday to Wednesday, you work quite normally; Thursday to Saturday, you are at the Frankfurt School. In addition to a purely English-language study programme, you may choose a bilingual variant (80 % German, 20 % English).
Programme
The Master of Finance enables you to pursue in-depth studies in one of four "concentrations", based on a common foundation of shared core modules. You choose one of the following four concentrations:
- Capital Markets
- Corporate Finance
- Accounting & Taxation
- Development Finance
SEMESTER 1
The programme begins with 5 foundational core modules in the first semester:
- Statistics for Business & Finance
- Principles of Economics & Monetary Economics
- Financial Accounting & Management
- Principles of Management
- Principles of Finance
SEMESTER 2
In the second semester, there are 3 further core modules:
- Leadership & Intercultural Management
- Corporate Finance
- Risk Management
The second semester also offers the first 2 of your 5 concentration modules.
SEMESTER 3
In the third semester, there are 3 more concentration modules, plus a further core module:
Business & Corporate Ethics. You also take the first of your three elective modules.
SEMESTER 4
In the fourth semester, you choose 2 further Electives and you also work your Master's thesis. Optionally, you may also use the fourth semester for a study abroad period, taking modules in one of our partner universities.
CONCENTRATION MODULES (in Semesters 2 & 3)
The CAPITAL MARKETS concentration has the following 5 modules:
- Derivative Analysis (shared with the Corporate Finance concentration)
- Structured Products & Interest Rate Models
- Credit Risk Default Models and Credit Derivatives
- Financial Engineering
- Market Estimation & Forecasting
THE CORPORATE FINANCE concentration has the following 5 modules:
- Derivative Analysis (shared with the Capital Markets concentration)
- Financial Markets & Institutions
- Debt Capital Markets
- Equity Capital Markets
- International Financial Management
The ACCOUNTING & TAXATION concentration has the following 5 modules:
- Advanced Financial Accounting
- Advanced Management Accounting
- International Taxation
- Financial Instruments in Accounting
- Accounting Seminar
The DEVELOPMENT FINANCE concentration has the following 5 modules:
- Finance & Growth
- Financial Developmen;
- Microfinance
- Project Management
- Internship
ELECTIVE MODULES (in Semesters 3 & 4)
There is a wide range of elective modules, of which you can choose 3. Topics include:
- Arbitrage Theory
- Asset Management
- Mergers & Acquisitions
- Enterprise, Development & Regulatio;
- Financial Stability
- SME & Housing, Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Finance
- Supervisory Risk Assessment
- Financial Statement Analysis & Security Valuation
Entry Requirements
The study programme places high demands upon the students, both technically and personally. If you would like to apply for a place, you should
- Have a firtst university degree in Economics, Banking or Finance,
- Be prepared to go through a very rigorous study programme and
- Pass the TOEFL with a score of at least 70 iBT points.

The “Master of Finance” study programme starts in March. If you are interested in the study programme, please apply by 31 January (Bachelor graduates from Frankfurt School) or 30 November (all external applicant). Your application may also be considered after this deadline if there are places still available. However, based upon our experience, the demand for places is very high. Thus, we recommend that you meet the application deadline as it is in your best interest to do so. The acceptances are made based upon the date the applications were received. For this reason, we recommend that you apply as early as possible.

- - Your application documents (incl. your university transcript and CV)
- - Your TOEFL scores and
- - A recent colour photo
- Upon receipt of your application, we will invite you to our assessment centre. It includes an interview (motivation, personality) and a content-based text or interview. - The assessment centre will be held in Frankfurt and may be held in other locations only by
exception
