Learning purpose
A summary of Duisenberg school of finance's joint initiative with Tinbergen Institute for a PhD programme is provided here. Full information can be found on the website of the Tinbergen Institute: http://www.tinbergen.nl/.
Duisenberg school of finance also sponsors a new MPhil programme in Finance (fully dedicated to research in finance), offered by Tinbergen Institute The MPhil in Finance will initially be a variant of the Tinbergen institute's MPhil in Economics that leads to an NVAO accredited degree. It will share its structure, institutions and regulations, but will have a core and a choice of courses tailored to research in finance.
Target audience
Duisenberg school of finance together with the renowned Tinbergen Institute offers a dedicated two year MPhil programme in Finance, followed by the three year PhD positions in Finance. Students gain a deeper understanding of the fundamentals of financial economics (asset pricing, microeconomics, information, corporate finance) as well as the methodology (mathematics, statistics, econometrics) needed to be successful in research. The programme stimulates students to engage in critical, innovative thinking, thus lets them develop into independent researchers, ready to shape their further career in either the financial industry or academia.
Duisenberg school of finance will complement the Tinbergen institute's funding for the MPhil/PhD in Finance with scholarships for talented students seeking to take the MPhil, and three-year PhD employment positions for MPhil in Finance graduates.
