Master Program: Corporate Finance and Banking (MSc)
Learning purpose
The MSc in Corporate Finance and Banking is designed at training a small number of top students in the areas of Corporate Finance, Banking and Corporate Governance. The program seeks a more comprehensive and rigorous formation than in traditional MBA or executive training courses. It aims at teaching not only best practice but also how practice should adapt as circumstances change. In particular, it offers more advanced valuation methods, more focus on fundamental skills in the areas of financial intermediation and investment banking (e.g., credit analysis, governance assessment techniques) and offers exposure to cutting edge thinking on financial regulatory reform. Case analysis will be integrated with a more analytical approach. State-of-the-art corporate finance research highlighting moral hazard and incentive issues enable deeper insight into contracting, regulatory and governance issues. Special attention will be given to evidence from empirical research on corporate and bank choices.
Top international academics and industry sponsors participate in teaching advanced courses. Very generous, merit-based scholarships will be available for students to cover large parts of the tuition fees of the program. This initiative is fully funded by corporate sponsors from the financial industry, who are committed to ensure all graduates a summer internship.

The MSc in Corporate Finance and Banking is accredited within the Master of International Finance at the University of Amsterdam.
Programme
The programme requires a total of 70 ECTS. The curriculum is spread over five blocks and comprises mandatory courses plus electives and a master thesis (24 ECTS). Each teaching block consists of seven weeks of coursework, followed by examinations. The students take three courses in Block 1 and four courses in each of the Blocks 2-4. The first two blocks are completed before Christmas. Blocks three and four are respectively winter and spring. The complete programme takes 12 months in total, including 7 weeks for a mandatory internship at a corporation or financial institution during which a master thesis is written.

Entry Requirements
Students are accepted to the programme on an individual assessment. Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor degree from a reputable university, preferably in economics or business with either a finance or quantitative track. Professional experience is a strong advantage but not mandatory. To ensure that students are well suited to the course, we will require evidence of English language proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS) and GMAT or GRE score. The GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) or GRE (Graduate Record Evaluation) test helps us identify excellent students and is a useful independent guide for the programme when allocating scholarships.
